2020 Vision—A Brief History of Meridian

As we enter a new year, we’d like to take a look back. Meridian was incorporated in 2010, so 2020 marked not only a new decade on the calendar, but also a new decade for the company. We wouldn’t be here without our amazing customers and stellar employees. Here’s how Meridian became the premiere bird removal service in the country.

(This is not an all-embracing company history. Find out more about Brian and Dave and how they founded the company that would become Meridian Bird Removal.)

Meridian’s Core Values

  • Eagerly Optimistic
  • Humbly Confident
  • Adapt and Overcome
  • Commitment to Capture
  • Be Above the Bar
  • Help First

Eagerly Optimistic and Humbly Confident

Brian Burke and David Brugh started Meridian Wildlife Services, LLC, officially in 2010. Both left steady jobs to pursue their passion for capturing problem animals, which they had been doing on the side. It took much optimism and confidence to make the leap. Brian and David always emphasize their desire to do better, be better, and increase their knowledge. This development positioned them for the call that would change the company.

Adapt and Overcome, Commit to Capture

One of their customers, a grocery retail chain, called them in a panic. A mockingbird had gotten into one of their stores and was threatening the safety of their food and customers. David and Brian had never captured a bird before, so they dove into research and took on the challenge. They vowed not to leave until the mockingbird was out of the store. Because of their commitment and knowledge, they rid the store of the bird and left the customer happy.

It wasn’t long before a local big box store called asking for help with their birds. Before they knew it, David and Brian were getting calls left and right about problem birds. They realized while many pest control companies existed, few specialized in birds. They saw an opportunity. But it was going to require a plan and a major transformation. They developed and patented a capture system based on their experience and expertise on bird behavior. Now operating in multiple states, Meridian Wildlife Services transformed into Meridian Bird Removal.

Be Above the Bar and Help First

As of 2023, Meridian serves customers in all fifty United States, and its territories and is rapidly growing. We have always had a solid corporate strategy and a desire to help our customers. In return, our customers help us with excellent feedback and valuable ideas – after one customer suggested a post-service report, it became a standard part of our service package.

As we look forward, Meridian is eager to expand and grow. But our first order of business is always to help our customers by removing birds, advising them on prevention, and sharing our knowledge. It’s part of who we were in 2010. It’s who we’ll be a decade from now!
