OBJECTIVE

Remove a fast-moving American kestrel

• Meridian’s national Director of Sales received a call at 7:15 a.m.—an American kestrel had flown into a wholesale warehouse store.

• The American kestrel is a type of falcon and a protected species.

• Because this was an emergency, Meridian dispatched a Bird Removal Technician (BRT) experienced with raptors.

• The particular BRT was a two-hour drive away. But her experience and the flexibility of Meridian’s patented capture system meant she could manage the capture by herself.

SOLUTION

One experienced BRT removed the kestrel in 45 minutes

• The BRT immediately switched to a heavy net, knowing the large, fast bird could break the lighter net typically used. It took only 45 minutes for her to catch and release the kestrel outside.

RESULTS

Fast removal with zero impact on store operations

• The capture of the kestrel did not require any aisles or sections of the store to close or be blocked off. By 11:00 a.m., the store was bird-free.
