Distribution center for a wholesale warehouse club
-
The 636,000 square foot distribution center in Burlington, NJ, warehoused an array of goods, including food products. Like most distribution centers, multiple dock doors provided birds easy access to the facility.
OBJECTIVE
A new customer called Meridian Bird Removal, having noticed a “small number” of birds inside the building.
- The large distribution center had never worked with a bird removal company and estimated just a few sparrows and four visible nests.
- The facility was very clean, except for some areas with large quantities of droppings. Dock doors were of special concern.
SOLUTION
Three Technicians spent more than 13 hours patiently capturing 68 birds and removing 36 nests.
- Meridian Technicians arrived at 8:00 a.m. and quickly realized the bird problem was far greater than the facility reported.
- After capturing the birds inside, they observed other birds returning to “home” through an open dock door. They deployed the Bird-N-Free system in front of the door and captured all the “homing” birds.
- A thorough inspection revealed 36 nests, which Meridian removed.
- The Meridian Technicians worked until 9:30 p.m. to ensure a bird-free interior.
RESULTS
The facility was bird-free and ready to continue operations.
- The facility manager was surprised at the number of birds and the damage the birds had done. In addition to the droppings and ruined inventory, Meridian discovered crushed birds around the dock doors.
- With the distribution center bird-free, the partner could sanitize the workspaces and ensure clean operations going forward.

“We knew if we just caught the birds
inside, more birds would come in. We couldn’t properly serve the customer without getting these new homing birds.”
