Meridian Teams Up with Other Partners to Permanently Rid Garage of Birds

• Our partner’s West Hartford, CT, location had a parking garage that was infested with sparrows. Numerous birds had lived in the garage for some time, leaving behind nests, droppings, and structural damage.

OBJECTIVE

Remove all birds so other partners could install exclusion netting and repair damage.

• The store contracted with a company to install netting to prevent birds from nesting. Another partner would repair the damage.
• First, all birds and nests needed to be removed.
• This was a regional effort, with Bird Removal Technicians (BRTs) traveling from New York and Massachusetts.

SOLUTION

A Meridian team removed 30 sparrows and 35 nests.

• Because of the scope of the job, our store partner closed the garage for the day.
• Meridian inspected the garage, finding sparrows had nested in a number of cavities and crevices created by plumbing.
• The BRTs deployed Meridian’s patented Bird-N-Free capture system, removing 30 birds over a 6-hour period.
• The BRTs also removed a large number of nests, some in very hard-to-reach locations.

RESULTS

Meridian ensured the garage was bird and nest-free, allowing the installation of the exclusion netting.

• After months of customers being confronted with birds, droppings,
  and even sparrow corpses, the garage was bird-free. The store
  installed exclusion netting, cleaned the droppings, and repaired the
  damage caused by the birds.
