PARTNER
Regional Supermarket Chain
-
Technician Angela M. had just finished a bird removal job when she received a call to the Dallas, TX, location of a regional supermarket chain.
OBJECTIVE
Remove a protected native bird from the store
-
When Angela arrived, she identified the bird as a dark-eyed junco. As a native species, the bird was protected by Texas state law.
-
The junco had been inside for a week. It was rare to find juncos inside, and Meridian learned later the store had propped open doors to facilitate a pallet delivery.
-
When Angela arrived, she found the bird eating bread in the bakery department.
SOLUTION
Predict the bird’s flight path and set up the Bird-N-Free
Live Capture System
-
Angela watched the junco fly around the store, consulting with the store staff about where they had seen the bird.
-
Getting a good sense of the bird’s behavior, Meridian deployed the Bird-N-Free Live Capture System in a predicted flight path.
-
As expected, the dark-eyed junco flew into the netting and Angela had her bird.
RESULTS
Technician Angela’s humbly confident capture allowed her to remove and release the bird in under two hours.
-
As required by law, Meridian released the bird outside the store.
-
Meridian conducted a post-service inspection and made recommendations to prevent further intrusions.
The dark-eyed junco population in North America is estimated at
630 Million
This capture is one of Meridian’s first involving a dark-eyed junco.
“The manager was very pleased and told me he would gladly recommend Meridian to the other stores. There’s no better compliment than that!”
