INTERIOR BIRD REMOVAL SOLUTION

Experience and Persistence Make Multi-Species Removal Successful

PARTNER

Nationwide farm and garden supply retailer

  • The Midland, Texas, location was larger than the chain’s other stores, with a spacious receiving area that acted as the primary entry point for birds.

OBJECTIVE

Remove a multitude of birds causing problems.

  • The store employees estimated around 30 birds were flying in and out of the receiving doors, which were kept open. Plastic strips covering the apertures were in disrepair, allowing birds to enter.

  • Spilled dog food in the receiving area attracted sparrows, grackles, and collared doves in a rare display of interspecies feeding.

  • The birds also left droppings and built nests inside the store.

SOLUTION

Meridian worked for seven hours to capture and remove
all the interior birds using the Bird-N-Free system.

  • Technician Angela M. quickly realized there were more birds than the store employees estimated.

  • She closed the receiving doors and set five nets in an L-shaped pattern to bar entry to the store.

  • Experience allowed Angela to estimate the birds’ natural flight paths, resulting in fast and consistent captures.

RESULTS

Interior was bird-free after non-stop captures and removals.

  • Meridian worked without ceasing to remove 75 sparrows, grackles, and collared doves from inside the store, plus one nest.

  • Meridian recommended keeping the door closed, repairing the plastic strips, and promptly cleaning up spilled food to prevent future bird incursions.

“The employees were great to work with. It’s vital to have a good relationship with the partner. They were shocked they had so many birds!”
